In 2021 to 2022 and than again in 2023 to 2024 I worked at Humber’s StoryLab on two incredible projects, Surviving Hate and Federal Health Spending.

Surviving Hate is a multi-year investigative project examining how racism, hate, and discrimination impact Canadians, with a focus on their presence in public institutions. Our work aimed to bridge the data gap in reporting on hate crimes and incidents across Canada.

I contributed to data collection and analysis, helping build a database to track and understand the prevalence of hate incidents across Canada.

Decoding Two Decades of Federal-Provincial Health Transfer Payments in partnership with the Canadian Press we collected data on provincial health budgets and federal transfers from 2004 to 2024 to track annual spending. Our findings uncovered that contrary to some provincial narratives, federal transfers have outpaced increases to provincial health budgets.
